The mountain farm belongs to Nordgard Nordrum in the valley at Kjønnås. Karen and Ole Steberg were the first ones in our family who owned the farm . They worked on the mountain farm with cheese-making. The cheese was boiled in three big iron kettels. Ole Steberg was one of the pioneers in making the red Norwegian cheese.
Around 1950 the cheesemaking was ended. It was taken over by the dairies down in the valley. Selet, Fjøset, Låven og Skålen were in the period 1988 – 1993 moved 200 m to a new setting. In 1993 Jønnhalt Gjesteseter opened as a hotel. The old houses got a new life in a modern time.
Our son Øyvind Nordrum is running the farm in the valley. He has Charolais meetcows for breeding.
